13/7/2017 2 Comments Road Testing 'The Scared Book'I am loving loving road testing The Scared Book at various schools around Sydney. The response has been spine-tinglingly awesome! At Bonnyrigg Heights, I spoke to three classes of 150 kids each and they flicked and fanned and trampled their fingers in the air to help The Scared Book feel better. I was nearly blown off my chair as the kids blew away the butterflies! Then, as the children traced the calming spiral near the end of the book, you could palpably feel the energy in the room dissipate. Then we had lots of fun playing 'Roll the dice monster' and each class made up its very own weird and wacky monster. The teacher librarian had done an amazing job at getting the most out of the visit. The kids had been well primed, having studied my first book (When I See Grandma) along with those of other guest authors over the term; book orders were sorted; and the authors were very well fed and watered with a plate of sandwiches and a water bottle - and a gift of chocolates to sustain for the drive home. Such generosity! It was a delight. Here are some photos from the day: They even had a display wall for each of the authors - here I am with a queue of kids with their books for signing. Needless to say, excitement for The Scared Book is building! Stay tuned for information about it's release and launch at the end of August!
