Readings Picture Book of the Month!!
It’s a beautiful and adorable book to which many a carer and child will be able to relate, as I am sure similar scenes have been experienced in their homes when it is time for certain tiny folk to retire for the evening. For ages 2+.

A fun exploration of the bedtime struggles parents battle nightly, this delightful picture book gives kids the tucking-in duty. Kids will love being part of the story and getting involved as you turn each page. It’s a wonderful way to explore a book and different from most… A sweet bedtime book for kids to read with family that does double time as an uber engaging book for large groups.

This delightfully entertaining book about the perils of getting a child to sleep, is told from a child’s perspective, trying to get his dragon to sleep… Told with lots of humour, encouraging children to see what their parents do each night, the fresh perspective will be highly amusing to those whose bedtime is a nightly trial.

The text is gentle and encouraging, and the dragon’s antics, such as drinking out of the toilet, will likely produce giggles. The book doesn’t employ rhyme but uses soft alliteration and assonance, so it’s soothing to read aloud, particularly when the reader is encouraged to ‘whisper-wish’ the dragon goodnight. The illustrations are soft and dreamy, with an enticing but not overstimulating palette of greens, blues, creams, gold and red. This book is a sweet and helpful addition to bedtime routines for alert toddlers.

This is a fabulous book for young children loaded with many opportunities for the reader to engage the child in discussion about the story and to be an active player in it as well... Finally after many opportunities to take part in the story by blowing away the clouds, finding the dragon’s dinosaur and dimming the lights, he goes to sleep. Or does he?

Lights Out, Little Dragon! by Debra Tidball and Rae Tan, approaches that common parental dilemma – baby is tired but won’t go to sleep – with humour and imagination... It’s an amusing and gentle way to settle down for nap time.

Lights Out, Little Dragon! is a brilliantly clever picture book, that involves readers in the story... Filled with laughs and just a little bit cheeky, this wonderful bedtime story is a delight to share with kids. The ending is something that might seem a little too familiar for parents! I love when books are just as entertaining for the adult as they are for the child.. a relatable, sweet story that will become a bedtime favourite with kids.

Madam’s verdict was she loved it. She loved the little dragon and the colours used in the illustrations really caught her eye. And of course, she giggled and smiled at all the interactive parts to the story, so I’d have to say this one is a winner for us.

As someone who always has trouble falling asleep, I strongly relate to this book, and can imagine it being a popular bedtime reading choice.

This is a gorgeous interactive book! My 3yr old absolutely loves it and has memorised the words to it.
This book is about a little girl who is trying to get her dragon to sleep. It involves the child's interactions, turning the lights off, or itching the dragons tummy. It is adorable and the perfect bedtime story.

A gorgeous, interactive bedtime book- cheeky Little Dragon does not want to go to sleep, and the readers help is needed!

Review from Mstr 6yrs - “I liked the dragon in it and I like how the kid made them go to bed because he didn’t want to go to bed and wanted to play. I liked helping him go to bed”
.
I loved watching Mstr 6yrs interact with this story, helping Little Dragon go to bed, and would recommend it to anyone who might need some assistance with getting a little person to bed (I can draw some parallels in my house!!). The ideal age would be 3-5 yr olds.
